Foundation Center and Human Rights Funders Network are excited to present our first-ever blog series examining trends in human rights funding. The data throughout this site visualize the who, what, where, and how of funding over five years. But what about the why? A nuanced view of the field also considers the context in which grants were made and funding decisions were reached. For that, we turn to the funders themselves.
Grantmakers from our network, along with project partners Ariadne – European Funders for Social Change and Human Rights and Prospera – International Network of Women’s Funds, share the story behind the data in these blog posts. The authors provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into key trends that relate to their area of focus. Bookended by articles from HRFN and Foundation Center, this series elevates the voices of the funders and advocates themselves, offering perspectives and insight on human rights funding beyond the raw numbers.
